The History of Music Videos
When did music videos start?
The first music video considered is 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' by Bob Dylan, from a film.
In the 1970s, music producers realised music television could be used to promote their artists. These often replaced live performances.
In 1975, Queen released the music video for 'Bohemian Rhapsody', which innovated music videos.
In 1983, Michael Jackson released 'Thriller', a 14 minute music video. It was shown in many cinemas during it's release. This led to Michael Jackson taking acting roles in films including 'Arachnophobia'.
