Representation in Music Videos

Any representation is a mixture of:

1. The thing itself.
2. The opinions of the people constructing the representation.
3. The reaction of the individual to the representation.
4. The context of the society in which the representation is taking place.

e.g. Jay-Z used to be a very intimidating, moody figure. Now he's known as the family-man.

Star Image:

A star's image becomes a readily recognised sign that is used in many different media forms. Stars can use the fact that their image has meaning by allowing it to be used for advertising purposes. A pop star is a manufactured image and does not correlate to person's personality behind the image.
