BBC Radio 1 & BBC Radio 4

Similarities: electronic sound

Differences: Radio 1 uses samples of songs, Radio 4 uses the presenters voice

Target Audience: Radio 1 targets younger listeners, Radio 4 targets adults

Sound Effects: both electronic and repetitive, Radio 1 uses different people's voices to announce the title

Presenter and Mode of Address: Radio 1 presenter is Nick Grimshaw; very upbeat and inclusive to listeners. Radio 4 presenter is Sarah Montague

Jingle Description: Radio 1's full jingle is much longer, but both use electronic sound. Radio 1 has beat drops however, and includes samples of pop music.


BBC Radio 4 has the most diverse schedule of all the BBC radio stations. It is a 'talk only' radio station (no music is played). It includes radio plays, debates, comedy programmes, panel shows (about food, gardening etc.)
